When Lunching at Bartaco

Spotted! CT lifestyle blogger Rosa Diana seen lunching at Bartaco in West Hartford.

I was once again spotted visiting one of my favorite local restaurants. Guilty as charged! Do you find yourself visiting the same restaurants all the time? When I find a place I like, and I mean, really like, I turn into a big kid. I play with the same things or view the same things or eat the same things over and over again like it’s going out of style! Bartaco happens to be one of those places.

I find Bartaco to be an eclectic kind of place when it comes to the food. Although the name references tacos, and you do get to order a ton of different kinds of tacos, the fact remains you will find a myriad of flavors to choose from the menu. I totally love Asian food (especially Tai) and I love Mexican food (which is very close to my culture) and mixing these two kinds of cuisine is an art all its own. I also love really good margaritas although they’re still working on a really great Paloma. Needless to say I’m kinda obsessed with Bartaco. They’ve been extremely kind to me and this blog by inviting me in often to try their latest #bartacosecret or whichever happens to be back by popular demand. I’ve become a regular and we’re now on a first name basis.

Bartaco is home to my favorite guac and chips, hands down. I love my margarita salted and those fried plantains are to die for! On this visit I sampled the #bartacosecret, oyster tacos. They were really good but my favorite remains to be the spicy chorizo. It’s nice to try new things and the oysters were a great option especially since it’s winter and they make me reminisce about summertime. I also tried for the first time their tuna poke bowl. Fresh raw tuna, green & white onions, poke dressing, avocado, and garnished with sesame seeds & fried ginger! You can imagine what the flavors were like dancing in my mouth!

My favorite dessert? I love the churros with chocolate sauce, a traditional Mexican dessert. Today I chose this awesome spiced chocolate pudding with whipped cream, crispy oats & hazelnut topping. It went great with a giant cup of jo. I think I love the key lime pie in a jar the most. A key lime custard with graham cracker crust and vanilla whipped cream. It’s a simple dessert with amazing tropical citrus flavors.

If you haven’t had a chance to visit Bartaco, I highly suggest you do. With a casual atmosphere, great service and fabulous small plates I guarantee you’ll have a great time. And you’ll go back for more!

Also, make sure to follow me on Instagram (thanks if you already follow me) because I’ll be taking over the Bartaco Instagram story on March 1st! We’ll be celebrating National Margarita Day (officially February 22) but we’re not limiting it to just one day! Make sure to follow along and check out all the fun we’ll be having!
