I like trends. Actually, I love trends. Fortunately for me trends come and go just like the seasons. However, there is just something about animal prints that continue to resurface year after year especially during the cold months. I think it’s safe to say that most people associate these prints with gaudiness or flamboyance. I beg to differ.
Today I decided to jump on the wagon and sport my new animal print blouse. I layered it underneath a warm wool/cashmere blend pullover to soften the print a little. I absolutely loved it! Earlier in the season I purchased a pair of leopard print pumps, a furry infinity scarf and even found a pair of preppy Sperry Top Sliders in the same print! I have practically worn them on a daily basis! Not together, just randomly.
Here are my 3 tips on how to wear and coordinate these fabulous animal prints.
1. Versatility. Animal prints are actually quite easy to work with. They go so well with just about anything! Don’t be afraid to introduce it to your wardrobe .
2. Moderation. Wear these pieces sparingly so as to add a splash of boldness to your outfit of the day (ootd) or night (ootn). Just pay attention to what you’re trying to accentuate and be careful not to over do it. So, go ahead, make a statement, a subtle one and watch the eyes rove around you.
3. Jewels. As with any outfit, it is absolutely essential to piece it all together with the right amount of glitz. Again, this too calls for discretion. When layering your jewelry try to go simple. And simple doesn’t mean boring! It just means that your jewelry of choice will not take away from the print itself. When done right it will brighten your day or evening and you end up feeling great about your the way you look.
